We are sad to hear about your beloved Olive. However, we are glad to have discovered this beer because not only do we enjoy the taste, we just love the cover! I think our Mojo might be a relative of Olive ­ the tuxedo front and the French manicured toes! Thanks for crafting such a fine brew!

Hi Peter,

This is my old brown dog, Tweed, who passed away last Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at the age of 11-1/2. He sat on my lap faithfully for many evenings over the years as I sipped on my Smuttys. He was a one of a kind pooch. We live in Virginia.

Dirty Dog

Hi, I'm Dirty Dog. Really, that's my name. My girl, Ruth, got me from her brother when I was 9, and she couldn't bear to change my name. Don't worry, it's just because when her brother Dave took me home from the shelter many years ago, I was a bit muddy, and I liked to stay that way. But I've since changed my ways, and now I'm very clean and somewhat dainty, as you'll see from my pictures. All of Ruth's friends in San Francisco love to dog-sit for me so they can call out my name at the dog park or at the beach. They think my name is funny. Anyway, my girl Ruth is a pal of your brew guy - Dave Y. She misses going to see music with him in San Francisco, and playing cribbage in the middle of the night in hotel lobbies in Bangkok. Tell Davey to come visit us soon in San Francisco - so he can share his good beer and take me for a walk!

This is Pico, he's a GSP named after the ski mountain in VT but loves NH too! He's climbed Mt. Washington and loves to hike. Here he is digging at the beach in NJ, we're lucky enough to have Smuttynose available here. My office manager actually ordered Smithwicks and we got Smuttynose instead, call it dumb luck! My hope is that Olive is in doggie-heaven getting to swim and retrieve in big pools of Smutty.

Hello all,

Here is a pic of our not so old brown dog, Buddy. He is a 4 month old Chocolate Labradoodle who lives with us and our kids in Burlington, VT. We thought it timely to introduce him since we just ordered a big barrel of Old Brown Dog Ale. We can't wait to enjoy the onset of Fall by sitting on the deck, watching the leaves turn, and sipping the chocolatey goodness of OBDA.

Hi Peter-

First off, let us express our condolences for your recent loss of Olive.

Secondly, attached are some photos of our recently adopted lab mix Olive. And to answer the obvious question, yes, she is named after our favorite beer mascot. She was adopted from Patriot Lab Rescue in NH and has been a perfect puppy! She loves trying to steel mommy and daddy's Smuttynoses, as she knows what treasure those brown bottle have in store (that could be because her dad always gives her a little lick)!

If you guys ever decide to make an old black dog porter we've got the perfect mascot!

I'm a transplated New Englander who loves me my Smuttynose! Here's a pic of my beloved Old Brown Dog, Sidney, who we lost last year after sharing 7 beautiful years with him. My husband and I rescued him when he was already an "distinguished elder gent" (he was 8 years old when we got him); he was a very happy dog, and we are very happy to share his picture with others who will appreciate. I am sad to hear of the loss of your Olive; I'm sure both of our brown dogs are playing together in Doggie Heaven! It gives me comfort to know how much love we all have for our special friends.

Also attached is a pic of our younger Brown Dog, Reggie. He's an 8 year-old minpin, who is full of ATTITUDE. He's the *best*!!

Hi, my real name is Alex the Wonderdog, but they call me Little Brown Dog a lot because I'm a mix of lots of dogs and I'm little and fairly cute, even when I chew things I'm not supposed to. I'm a chocolate Lab and maybe GSP. I'm too little to drink Smuttynose, but maybe someday when I'm an Old Brown Dog. I'm a mellow guy, so I think Smuttynose will suit me just fine. I hope that I'm as lucky as Olive and I get to have as much fun as it looked like she had. Already I love camping and hiking, so the adventures are just beginning.

   My name is Honey, and I am a 5 yr. old collie/lab mix. My master just received some of your brew as a gift, and I overheard him telling all his friends how great this stuff is! He is thrilled about the flavor, aroma, and overall "yummyness"!
    He is sad, however, that he cannot get this wonderful beer here in Florida!  I hope he takes me on a road trip so we can come up and get some of this delicious beverage to stock our home bar with.

I was browsing places to see in Portsmouth and found your website. This is Smoochie, named fittingly, by my son in 1996 when she was found in the darkness of the Detroit streets. She was suffering from hypo thermia, she had just given birth to puppies that no doubt died from the extreme cold of the night. Today, at the approximate age of 12, she still appears to be a puppy and makes me feel like the most important person in the world when I come home from work. She gives me strength when I am down by nudging me softly.  Often, I find her watching the rest of the members of the house with a loving curiosity about their goings on.  My husband, who claims he doesn't really want a dog, has often be caught rousting about the floor with her and giving kisses to her nose.  There is no other love like the love we have for our smallest member of the family, Smoochie.

This is our beautiful 4-month old Chocolate Lab puppy...who happens to be named Olive! We had never had your beer before, but a friend saw the bottle and thought it was such a coincidence...so of course we had to taste it, and we thought
it was great! We gave Olive a little taste, too (just a sip!), and she liked it much better than her normal water!

My name is Autumn Leaves.  I am a yellow lab.  I work for Seascape C&L, LLC, a landscape maintenance company at 280 Heritage Ave. Unit B in Portsmouth.  The boys and I mow about 150 residential and commercial lawns a week and do lots of commercial plowing.  I like to ride in the trucks with the windows down, even in the winter.  We bought our industrial condo on Heritage Avenue about a year ago and are just down the street from you.  My dad's favorite beer is Old Brown Dog and his favorite meal is the Turkey Lancaster with no mayo.  He's been going to the Portsmouth Brewery since 1995.  He hasn't opened a menu in 10 years, he always orders the same thing.  He has eaten over 100 Turkey Lancasters in his lifetime.  Don't quote me on that, however, he seems to remember the Lancaster getting the boot from the menu at some point and having to order the Billy Goat for a while.
