Greg Blanchard, Head Brewer
Greg Blanchard started his brewing career as a young boy collecting beer bottle caps. At that age, it was just a collection. But as time passed, he realized his calling. Born in Athens, Georgia, he made his way to New Hampshire when he was three. He grew up attending the Oyster River school system and later graduated from UNH with a Food Service Management degree. In 1998, after seven years in the food industry, he chose to take a chance at a part-time bottling position at Smuttynose. With many years of homebrewing experience and having read many brewing books, he decided this was the path for him. After all, brewing was similar to food science in terms of recipe formulation, sanitation and a strict compliance to consistency. After several years of hard work, he rose to Head Brewer, a position he has held for four years. In 2002, he earned a scholarship to attend the MBAA's Brewing and Malting Science course in Madison, Wisconsin. Greg is an avid New England sports fan. While not at work he enjoys time with his wife Kristie, live music, camping, boating, travelling, and the seemingly endless work on his new (but old) house.
