Pat’s first exposure to craft beer was on a trip to Northern California in the mid 1980’s. An instant convert, he has never looked back. Living two blocks from the legendary Toronado Pub in San Francisco’s Lower Haight district, he spent many hours there cultivating knowledge of fine craft beer and breweries. Before joining Smuttyose, he spent 11 years as a beertender and co-beermeister at the Gate in Brooklyn, one of NYC’s oldest and best-respected craft beer institutions. He is one of the founding partners and organizers of FREAKTOBERFEST, Brooklyn’s notorious craft beer, music and burlesque festival, and in his spare time publishes Beetenderbrooklyn.com, a site dedicated to spreading the gospel of good beer.
Pat studied both fine art (County College of Morris) and business (Kaplan University) and has spent the past 20+ years as a recording and touring musician playing with the Southern Gothic Rock outfit Smokewagon and legendary Swans leader Michael Gira’s Angels of Light. Pat is also an avid sports fan, total baseball junky and completely devoted to his 1 year old daughter Ruby, who can frequently be found strapped to his side in a sling.
Pat believes that Smuttynose is the finest East Coast brewery and one of America’s upper echelon beer producers and is grateful for the opportunity to let every know it.
