The Pumpkin Beer That Still Tastes Like Beer!
The beer drinker’s pumpkin beer!
Since 2003, we’ve brewed Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale with real pumpkin and a blend of classic pumpkin pie spices in tribute to our colonial forebearers. Recipes calling for the use of pumpkins have been found from early European settlers in New England, when brewers sought to extend their supply of costly imported malt with locally grown ingredients, such as squash and “pompions.”
Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale is available from late summer through Thanksgiving.

More spicy than spiced—this ale from Portsmouth, N.H., is bracing and bitter. Less aromatic than most, with more noticeable hops, it's not an obvious pumpkin beer, but not quite anything else. Who says autumn can't also be refreshing? This is the only pumpkin beer that rightly comes in a six-pack.Charlie Papazian, "All About Beer"
