About Towle Farm

The Towle family was among the second wave of settlers to reach Hampton, New Hampshire. After the farm’s founding, around 1639, and over generations, the family adapted from a cattle farm to a small subsistence farm — often producing just enough for the Towles to live on and barter with, striving and struggling for centuries. It is easy to respect and be inspired by the nine generations of Towles who, like Smuttynose, come from a deep, rich history instilled with the priceless virtue of wholesome hard work. We are proud to call Towle Farm our home. And we hope to honor the memory of that steadfast family by practicing our craft well and helping to sustain our community and environment.
