Beer Releases

News You Can Drink: October Edition

A new month means new beers. Some of these have recently been released, the rest are on the verge of going public; just like your rake.

Out Now in the Smerch Store:

SMUTTLABS_label_Herbaceous

Smuttlabs Herbaceous (6.7% wet-hopped IPA) is out now! Like all the best herbaceous things, this beer is 100% Nugget, featuring all New England-grown Nugget hops, sourced with Isinglass River Hops Exchange. It’s available now at Towle Farm and is literally shipping out as I type this.

SBC 12oz Label-BigA-01

Big A IPA (9.4% Double IPA) is back for its 11th Anniversary, but it’s super fresh and features a blend of Columbus, Bravo and Sterling hops. This beer has been recognized with a top rating by Eric Asimov int he New York Times and named the Champion American Beer at The Great British Beer Festival in 2010.

This Saturday, October 18, is Big Beer Series Release at Towle Farm.

SBC-home-poster-smuttonator

S’Muttonator (9.8% doublebock) After a mutli-year hiatus, our russet-colored, decoction-mashed doublebock lager is finally coming back to you! It’s got an awesome goat on the label plus a 98 rating on Rate Beer and a 97 from the Alstrom Brothers on BeerAdvocate.

The following Saturday, October 25, brings another Smuttlabs release:

SMUTTLABS_label_SHEBANG

Shebang (triple IPA, 10.5%) goes further than Big A; featuring a lupulin cornucopia! Bravo and Zeus were used in the boil additions, while dry hopping is a blend of Summit, Pacific Gem and Falconer’s Flight.  For perspective, Shebang uses about 6 pounds of hops per barrel, while Finestkind is brewed with just over 1 pound per barrel.

Around the Smuttlabs corner are Finkelstein (5.4% India Pale Lager) and Grisette (a 3.5% table saison) and Winter Ale brewing is just underway.

We look forward to seeing you at the farm!
