First Rhye IPA, now S’Muttonator. It’s the week of comebacks. After our Rhye IPA’s return as a year-round beer, another one of our favorites makes its re-entry into the fold. S’Muttonator Double Bock will be available for a limited time in four-packs and draft as part of our new Heritage Beers series. Look for it March 30th wherever Smuttynose beers are sold.
“After nearly twenty-five years and hundreds of different brews, we wanted to celebrate some of our favorites,” said Smuttynose Brewing Company founder and President Peter Egelston. “S’Muttonator has been one of our most popular beers for years, so making it the first entry into our Heritage Series was a logical choice.”
The decoction brewing process is what makes S’Muttonator so unique. Decoction involves removing portions of the grain, heating it separately, and adding it back to the mix. S’Muttonator, twice-decocted and named with the “‘ator” moniker, is a nod to double bocks around the world. Decocting, while time-consuming, is what ultimately gives double bocks their unique, high-quality flavor. S’Muttonator offers a nutty, toffee flavor with a smooth backbone, a hallmark of double bocks.
S’Muttonator Returns, Heritage Series Begins
S’Muttonator’s return is awesome, but we’re probably even more excited about the new Heritage Series. We’ve brewed so many different beers over the years, and we wanted to bring back our favorites. So, retired year-round beers, discontinued seasonal, or even one-off from our Big Beer series? The Heritage Series makes every past beer fair game.
Look for a new beer every quarter under the Heritage Series. You never know what we’ll decide to bring back, so keep your eyes peeled, and most definitely keep drinking Smuttynose.
